The Russian retail chain Pyaterochka has announced the launch of a pilot project of installation innovative refrigeration equipment in its stores aimed at reducing greenhouse gases emission.

We are talking about replacing freons and switching to refrigeration equipment running on natural refrigerant R290, which boasts zero ozone depletion potential and low global warming potential. The use of this substance in equipment will lead to a reduction in direct emissions in the future.

Innovative technologies have already been put into operation in 3 retail objects, and 10 more are planned to be connected by September.

In addition, the retail chain is switching to using safer gases and replacing freon in air conditioners with more energy-efficient compressors using R32 refrigerant with less global warming potential, which can also be safely disposed of.
